3) Coupon Requirements:
The bend test coupons shall be low carbon steel, thickness 0.050 in. (1.27 mm), width 2 in. (50 mm) by length 4 to 8 in. (100 to 200 mm). The coupons shall be blast cleaned and electric arc sprayed in accordance with the specification requirements. 4) Operation: Place the Bend Tester as shown in
4) Operation:
Place the Bend Tester as shown in picture near the edge of a bench or table. Make sure the bend bar handle can lay back completely so the handle is pointing down (90 degrees to the surface the bend test is sitting on). Raise the handle halfway up and adjust the pressure plate screw to the appropriate height. Lower the bend handle. Choose the applicable test bar and place it in the bend tester. While the bend handle is pointing down twist to adjust the distance between the test bar and the press roller, the press roller should be within 1/8” of being even with the pressure plate. Insert the sprayed coupon, approximately half its length, under the test bar and above the pressure plate. (Sprayed coating should be facing down. Adjust the lock bar screws so the coupon can slide underneath it. Once in place tighten the lock bar screws slightly. Then bring the handle up and back towards the bend tester, bending the sprayed coupon 180° around a mandrel of the appropriate size. Lower the bend handle back to its original position, pointing down. Loosen the lock plate, remove coupon and inspect.
